Comedy awards.

Last Night on CH4. Mixture of brilliance and gut churning lovey banality. Jack Whitehall getting the king of comedy award representing the latter, Steve Coogan and Johnny Vegas the former.

I'm glad 'Getting On' won something.

Prefer deadpan humour to Jack Whitehall's 'look at me aren't I funny' variety.

The Comedy Awards used to be guaranteed edgy near-the-knuckle telly but that show this week was the end for me. Fair enough that these awards shows run over but it was a farce. Really unprofessional. As for wankers like Jack Whitehall and that fucking Miranda Hart winning awards for comedy???? WTF? I must have missed a meeting on what passes for comedy or summat because if that's the standard of talent that now wins awards then TV commissioners need to stop being so fucking safe and get out there in the theatres and comedy clubs to find some new dangerous and intelligent humour. All that lot who live off the telly panel show circuit are complete fucking shit. As for cutting off a talent like Steve Coogan in the middle of what was a funny and articulate speech it just left me baffled as to who's running television these days. I won't be watching another one. That is all.

Miranda Hart = shit one trick pony.

Very lucky woman.

Agreed, just watching it on catch-up and it's very predictable, the same old faces back slapping each other. There was even an award for best panel show FFS. I think British comedy is in a bit of a rut to be honest.

The whole of Coogans speech is shown on Channel 4 catch-up.
