Check Your Equipment

My money's on Grind with this one.

Forest

Grind is gonna wet himself
grunt

Abaci aren't scientific equipment.

The squiggleograph is though i'll give you that.

3 is a bunsen burner.
Forest

Is 5 a sextant? Think I saw one in Mutiny on the Bounty.
Grind

Oohj! Ooh!

It's too exciting to answer.
Grind

Weirdly, I just went to van der Graaff (sic) Way in Burlington, Massachusetts.

I think I have at least ten of them in my basement.
Grind

1 Newton's Cradle
2 Agar Plate
3 Bunsen Burner
4 Rafting square?
5 Sextant
6 Dymo
7 Looks a bit like a boomerang, but prolly isn't
8 Oscilloscope
9 Abacus
10 Geiger counter
11 MRI doohickey
12 van der Graf generator
13 Inclinometer, but it's called summat else
14 Looks like a poo?
15 Compass
16 Looks like it might be a scanning electron microscope?
17 protractor
18 Looks like a coffee table
19 prolly a tranny
20 Slide rule
Grind

Ah, I see what 7 is now. It's one of those bubbly "that's not fucking straight" thingummies.

I've been wondering what the proper name for those 13 things is all night. Put me out of my misery.

14 is a scotch egg. Defo.

It isn't, but 18 looks a little like a coelostat.

If you behave, I'll show you my Geiger counter one day. I've got some uranium glass balls too.
Heyho

No 4 Grind - I had my money on a set square. Got an antique one that was my Grandads. Totally f'ing useless to me like.
Forest

7 is a spirit level, hardly scientific.
Grind

Yep, 4 is a set square - they call them rafting squares here. I've been this side of the pond too long.
Grind

I keep looking at 18, trying to figure out what the feck I'm seeing. If the answer is laser or 1980s era Keurig coffee machine, I may have to kill someone with my uranium balls (I bought them off ebay).

Grind

16 could well be summat more mundane too.

* Realises he should've gone to a liberal arts school instead
Grind

2 Petri dish, rather than agar plate?

Which leads me back to the scotch egg of 14?

I think it's an orrery. Had to google the name.
Plastic Man

2 - I'd agree with you Grind. It depends what the question-setter had in mind. The Petri dish is the container. As it contains a growth medium set using agar, it could also be called an agar plate.

13 - Theodolite.

16 - Looks the same as lots of different type of lab equipment. Mass spectrometer, HPLC, Gas Chromatograph, electron microscope, flame spectrometer?
Grind

Theodolite. That's the puppy.

16 also looks a little like a CCTV system
fartcatcher

i think they are all right or thereabouts apart from number 4 which was a culture plug or something like that.

16 was a mass spectrometer

Grind wins a Nobel prize for Physics. Or Chemistry. Whichever he fancies
Grind

Cool. If Forest doesn't pip me, it'll look great next to my oversized Flange! trophy.

Culture plug?
