Yes. Hopefully madness and fun. Honesty, humility, I want to see that
Possibly the best news that the club has had in a very long time. At least he is not in it just to fleece the club and fans out of their money. He seems to have a true passion for football itself.
Hope that he has the will to get shot of GFH and a few of the players come the end of the season.
The LUFC rolls on with a new Ring Master..
My oh my, every step of the way has to be dramatic and controversial, that's just the way it is with us. Can't pretend i aren't massively delighted with this. As much with the almost door slamming out of Bates, GFH, Haigh et al as i am with the arrival of Cellino.
I don't buy this crook thing at all. Financial wrangling with local governments in Italy is common, expected in fact with businessmen. The arms dealing is bollocks and tax evasion on a yacht is not criminally fraudulent. If it was the entire worlds super rich would be in jail not to mention our own government's front bench and there would be no coffee or internet search engines for them to pass away the time.
I'm not expecting everything to be roses either. There's going to be more drama, controversy and pain but at least we haven't got leaches bleeding the club with their own dishonesty. Dishonest bastards whom the FL had no problems deeming fit and proper. Mind you, the bastards will be looking for revenge rather than supporting one of their most famous and loved assets, us, but that is situation normal.
I'm assuming he's a clued up financially capable businessmen who doesn't take shit. That'll do for me. The fact that he also seems to be a rock n rolling football loving dude who seems prepared to put in more than he takes out makes him even likeable. Massive job ahead for him. Who does he keep? who does he trust for advice? how does he re acquire our assets whored by his predecessors? how does he rebuild the entire club from bottom to top? and who does he bring in? I'm not expecting Messi or Suarez but some strong capable footballers who give a shit would be a good start.
Going by what was said during 'that' phone call he wont be bringing in any Italians to play because of the language barrier and erm the weather.
Just solid English players apparently.
Not sure if our Brian will be about for too much longer. Feel a tad sorry for the fella as he has had a rough ride and it does make you wonder if he would have been capable of running a decent set of players if it were not for all of the shit going on behind the scenes. Must admit that im not so sure of his managerial skills these days.
Get your specs out and you may be able to read it!
It was going ok, actually felt like we were on the up with a good feeling about the place then he went and got those two wingers for Hilsbro' and holy shit the place just went into meltdown. Yeah he can point to the ownership shenanigans but that didnt alter how we played and how he set the team up.
Nice fella, very likeable and possibly hasnt had chance to show us what he could do under normal circumstances. They arent ever going to happen here though. See what he can do in the remaining games with at last a semblance of continuity and certainty
It will be a novelty to have someone interested in football owning the club. That's assuming Shaun Harvey doesn't try and put a spanner in the ointment.
As soon as the ink is dry, I'm sure BMc will be shown the door. He hasn't had the best of luck, but his persistence with players who clearly aren't up to the job has been hard to support.
Most of the other teams in this division are made up of journeymen like ours. The key skill for a manager is to be able to build them into a team. That involves passing the ball. Every game i've seen since Larry left, our players have looked uncomfortable on the ball, just looking to offload it rather than taking responsibility and actually doing something useful with it.
Gianfranco Zola is out of work, and has a bit of previous with Cagliari - and I assume Cellino.
We could do a lot worse - at least his teams try and play football. Despite what Cellino says, he's bound to bring in some Italian players. Not too worried about language problems. Warnock still hasn't mastered English after 60 odd years.
Expect the FL to go after this like a dog with a bone, there is a part in the judgement that allows the FL to ban him again once a Sardinian court decides whether he was dishonest or not. This desicion is to be made within the next three months.
We can live the dream for three months then?
He's just sacked the Cagliari manager - for losing 3-1 at home to Roma who are second in Serie A.
