Catch Up

Been doing a fair bit of listening to toons via YouTube and have been taking note of recommendations on here or even long gone days of omj.

So... recently listened to Morcheeba and Beck and Weezer and today, The Twang.  Much goodness within each, I have to say, though not always the sort of music I enjoy listening to that much.

This sort of thing - recommended listening - is something I've found Reg excels at, so please continue, you eclectic sorts
Late Doors

So much to catch up on. Every month there's at least half dozen albums out id like. Say i buy 3 per month (tops) thats a great deal of catching up to do. Cant do it.

Then theres all kinds of old stuff to discover plus loads of radio stations not to mention other genres id like to get to know better. Mission impossible, just enjoy what you can.

Exactly, it's frustrating, too many things to write on forums too

I'm still not entirely sure how I got into Morcheeba - I'm guessing I heard a track on TV and followed up on it?

They're quite hard to pigeon-hole (especially given the rotation of singers) and, though everything isn't always great, most of it is interesting.

Beck and Weezer are a bit like that too.

Given that I spend most of my time listening to NPR (not entirely unlike, say, Radio 4?) I think this is the only place where I actively find new music too.

There's some fantastic music on Youtube, both new and old. A lot of live stuff that never made it onto an album as well.

To be fair, there's even more shite.

Heyho

A lad at work lent me his digital music collection of some 100,000 tracks. Subsequently my collection has gone up from around 17,000 to 24,000

Just sat at the moment catching up with the likes of the Exploited, Crass watered down by Bryan Ferry, Johnny Cash and a load of blues. Actually the best so far is some Boogie Woogie piano compilation album and a bit of Chemical Brothers

Excellent.  How has he 'lent' you them then?  Is it your Soapbox or whatever you call it combo?

Squeezebox you mean lol

He has them backed up onto a portable hard disk. Which I do as well. Want to borrow it sometime?

Yes please.  Still got that laptop for you to operate on and your Juventus book to return.
