Can't help thinking threesome but..

I probably shouldn't Tri parent births given the green light by MPs. Massively debatable if course on ethical political and social grounds but i can't help thinking genetic construction, made to order babies, DNA engineering etc are an unstoppable human development. Best we can do is make it transparent and non oppressive i think

Always risky letting MPs make a decision about something they don't understand.

I don't think you can say for certain that 'fiddling' with someone's DNA has no long term risks to the gene pool, but in this case the benefits seem to outweigh the risks. imo.

If you think about the reasons/circumstances where this technique could be used beneficially, then I see no harm in trying it and review the subject in say 5 years or so.

As with most things, it is not the technique itself that is at fault, but the abuse of the development for unintended purposes to the original reason for the idea is where the problems with public perception lie.

I remember there was huge debate and publicity over "test tube" babies and surrogate mothers (examples related to this development), and these techniques are now embraced by society as no longer unusual.  Both of these had their controversial moments, but consensus prevailed and quickly regained control over the situations.

There will be abuses that arise, but when they do, the relevant legislation should be amended very quickly to prevent any further abuses.
