Brighton (OMG!!!)

Oh dear. Having just completed a 14 hour shift after a major incident at work I thought I'd come home, put my feet up, eat a lovely meal served to me by Mrs H and watch Leeds.

30 minutes and indigestion later I switched over to Robson Green in Northumberland.

In that brief period of time what I saw bewildered me. Did we look any worse, nahhhhh. We had possession in midfield and little else to talk about.

I am going to target one player - the goalie. I've always though he was a bit suspect at crosses but last night he demonstrated two other traits - laziness and a complete inability to boss his defence around. Basically he can't give a fuck. Surely there's some 40 year old ex Premier League goalie kicking his heels on the subs bench or in the reserves we could get in on loan.

Agree that the defence was shocking last night, but scoring is a problem as well. Only MK have scored less goals.

Last three league games 6 shots out of 36 on target.

maybe we should try this

I'm afraid that we have no threat in attack.

Our shot on target came later in the match through trying to be a little more penetrative and adventurous.

The youngsters did well if you ignore the abject 20 mins, but without 2 or 3 consistent goal scorers and game changers, the effort goes to waste.

There was no leadership or organisation in defence. Bamba is supposed to be there to provide this, but had a shitter!  This lack of leadership affected Cooper's game.

After being 4-0 down at HT, finishing 4-0 has to be viewed as the best possible realistic outcome.

I would like to be more positive, but reality bites.

What do we need to get to the Premier League?

Commitment.

From the Owner(s), coaching staff and players.

For me, Evans' " enthusiastic approach" is counter-productive to the kids coming through.

We need to adopt a three year plan.

Get JFH as Manager, Lucas Radebe as assistant and get back Redfearn as senior coach on the bench to oversee the Academy and their introduction to the first team (he is not a permanent team manager, but he is excellent at developing players and introducing them to the first team in a phased approach - and can do a good job to cover between managers; this is his strength). This will give experience in Attack, Defence and Midfield. They are all fairly level headed. Gus Poyet would also be most welcome if anybody can not be recruited from a footballing point of view.
Revisit the Revie and Wilkinson strategy to get out of this division.  Get a "spine" of slightly ageing but class professionals, who want to lead but are stifled at their current club, to guide the younger members - but also ones that will be able to play in the Prem when promotion is gained. We need midfield enforcers to get out of the Championship.

We also need a reliable goalie - Stockdale (who was in goal for Brighton) was linked with us a couple of years ago, or maybe Carson could return

Get the players needed and offer contracts to cover this period. If a player does not believe they are in for the long run at Leeds, then they are not worth signing.  Eliminate the sticking plaster approach.

First priority (player acquisition excepted) is to adopt the George Graham approach and become difficult to beat and win ugly if needed.

And see what develops from there.

It got to the point where i was hoping that they would get hammered 8-0 or along the lines.
To just give up how they did is unforgivable,
especially in front of our travelling fans who made more of an effort to get to the other end of the country than the team did to play 90 mins of football.
As shit as the team was/is i think that they have lost all respect for the manager, owner and club alike.
Part of me thinks who can blame them as its a bit of a circus but they are pro players and should always put in a shift regardless, no excuses.
While we have an owner like we do nothing good is ever going to happen to our club. Evans will be gone pretty soon and yet another sap will be employed until our president gets fed up with him.
The Circus continues.

We seem to have players who come into the team, make an impact, and then go off the boil. Antenucci and Bambe most recently, but I'm sure there have been others.

Our most consistent players both this season and last have been the young lads - Cook, Mowatt and Taylor.

The rest just seem to be here to pay for the mortgage and the occasional new tattoo.

I seem to think that there is so much shit going on at the club behind closed doors that it has been affecting the players and staff for way too long.
To the point where they are pretty much just turning to collect their not so hard earned money.
Antenucci was messed about with at the end of last season and dropped for, erm, scoring too many goals.
Not saying that this is the reason for his poor form these days but prolly doesnt help. Bamba played his bits off before he signed a proper deal and seems to have taken his foot from the gas now he has one.
I just think the place is rotten and affects all there.
Feel sorry for the youngsters as they probably do love the club but seeing their old mate Byram going and playing at a decent level at a decent club for decent money they will follow in the summer and who can blame them? We will be able to rejoice in the fact that we have Wooton still playing for the next 3 years, although he does actually try.

Haven't I always said what lovely people sky TV are eh? Was all set for a weekend in Brighton for this until they very kindly switched it to Monday night so I went to Tenerife instead. Got into the bar at half time all set to watch the the second half and I knew something was wrong as soon as I walked in. It was like a STD clinic's waiting room. Looked at the score and went "fooking hell". A lad just looked at me as if he'd been told he had something incurable. He had as it happened , been a Leeds fan. I walked straight back out. Thank you Mr Murdoch, all the best with the marriage, don't do anything I would do.

At a complete tangent, you have just reminded me of a story a pharmacist chap at Rotary told me about working in a hospital pharmacy that serviced a STD clinic, in addition to other outpatients' clinics. The standard practice to notify patients to pick up their completed prescriptions was to call out their names. Quite logical really.

However, for reasons the hospital deemed "confidentiality", STD "clients" could only be identified by their hospital registration number, a practice the powers-that-be had clearly not thought through.

A typical sequence might be, "Mr Jones, please...", "Mrs Smith, please...", "Number 5987897897, please..."

As the reddening-faced future recipient of a course of antibiotics headed towards the dispensary hatch, he reckoned it was to a (probably imagined) background noise of ***cough***CLAP CLINIC***cough***

One would have hoped that they might have altered this practice by now.

It's all changed now - the new clap clinic for Leeds is, amusingly, directly opposite the entrance to the good old Balli High night club in the Merrion Centre.

Unisex waiting room now, self check in kiosks, apparently it's got street cred now to have a sexually transmitted disease. There's even a condom vending machine.

Of course you may ask why I know so much. Well I was involved getting the computers systems set up for them. Honest guv

Reminds me of a tale Camp David tells down the local about when he was in the chemist awaiting his prescription for a..ahem.."condition he had recently picked up" The pharmacist called his name and informed David in front of everybody that he had to avoid sexual activity until the course had been completed. With a hint of defiance through pursed lips David asked him if masturbation was OK. "Err yes" said the pharmacist. "Ooh good" said David, "do you sell batteries?"
