I'm surprised these lot haven't had a mention in the tank. A bit after my time, but did get to see them once. It was a bit shambolic, but there was something there. If they'd been Mancs and avoid some of the rock 'n' roll excesses - who knows!!!
I think this is one of their later songs - after Mick Roberts had returned from his enforced sabbatical . Filmed in Roundhay Park I suspect.
They were ok. I never saw them live but bought this ep. They were overshadowed by so much other better stuff that was around at the time. I'd never say they were amazing, just indie-by-numbers.
You're being too generous, they were shite.
Met Mick for a few beers in New York the other year. We used to drive each other nuts but we get on well now. He is very creative and a pretty good artist, does poetry, stuff that surprises me. I used to go to gigs with Scottie loads, a lovely lad who I have tons of time for. First met Cuey on a train to Wolves, a little 12 year old terror in his Pringle and Adidas.
Young Marxist at Tescos
Did a piece on them for a fanzine in the late 80s.
Also released a flex disc with same, which was a right pain in the arse to sort out. They seemed like good lads whenever you talked to them. Agreed they weren't great, but calling them shite ^ is a bit harsh.
