Brentford Away

Well that was a huge reality check. Great trip out again with the Griffin Branch as always but chuff me, for the first half we were totally mesmerised by some fantastic fast football by the Bees. They used the width brilliantly tormenting our full backs and bursting through our middle with pace and ease. Young Phillips took a bash for the first and couldn't get back with his man who scored after we failed to clear but for both goals they were two gears quicker than us. Our Full backs had zero cover in front of them with Barrow being particularly negligent for Ayling. Not only that but he was quite ineffective throughout save for a few minutes after half time when he looked quite dangerous. For some reason Monk pulled him off then. Maybe if we had got one during that fifteen minutes we might have got an equaliser but the truth of it was that Green saved it from being a right hammering and we hardly mustered an effort on goal at all.

Pedraza made a few good runs but was unable to find the ball into Wood or Hernandez much to the fury of them both and after that he seemed to lose his way. As in fact the rest of the team did while Brentford regained their composure and dominance. Very Poor, just hope we can limp into the lottery of the play offs but if can't go in with some momentum then it will be futile

What looked practically nailed on i.e. play offs is becoming a concern:

Fixtures remaining:

Preston North End H
Newcastle United A
Wolves H
Burton Albion A
Norwich City H
Wigan Athletic A

Let's discount any points at Newcastle so it's a

Preston North End - draw/loss (PNE are on a good run)
Newcastle United - loss

That could see us out of top 6

Wolves - scraped win (Wolves are putting a run togther)
Burton Albion - draw
Norwich City - must win (not easy)
Wigan Athletic - must win and hope Sheff Wed/Fulham slip up

Well it is Leeds isn't it.

Hard to pinpoint isn't it. I have always though the mid field looked light weight and outr Achilles heel is our reliance on Wood to score goals. But you watch us against Brighton and we were good which shows what we can do.

Speaking as an armchair supporter I wouldn't give any of our midfield the time of day.

If we bounce back against Preston over the weekend then i think that we may find our mojo again and keep our playoff spot. Loose on Saturday and i think it could be very telling for the last few games.
Brentford has a pub on every corner of the ground dont they LD?

Ahhh maybe that is what went wrong then - the midfield were doing a crawl of each of them Forum Index -> Leeds
