B B King - Dead

R.I.P. sir. I was lucky enough to see him live in a small club (his own) on Beale Street in Memphis in 2001. He absolutely rocked the place. Had the audience in the palm of his hand. One of the originals!

Fabulous artiste, RIP

I'm sure there was a shortist joke to be had in there.

However, RIP B B.

Another sign of me getting older, I really don't like jokes about people dying, or that fecking term 'had a good innings' like that makes it all okay that someone has gone so stop worrying about it.  What is the cut off age of a good innings compared to not a good innings?

Grief porn is more annoying though.

Re Good innings. I always take that as somebody meaning that the person who died had a good life or lived into their seventies at the least. Don't know why I think that like but there you go. Remember when texting first started and everybody had at least one mate who'd send all the jokes around about people dying in natural disasters and such, and you'd just groan and think 'what a doylem'.

Ooh you mixing minx you

The 'good innings' comment is usually a person's way of accepting someone's death... i get that, but when it's someone You have lost, and someone says it to you, not meaning harm but well not meaning very much at all as it whiffs of insincerity and not really caring, it's a shite and trite thing to say.
