Armstrong and all that drug stuff

Must be a great relief to fans of the sport that at last it is being cleaned up.

I am sure that it still has problems and that many other sports will still have problems too.

Very naive perhaps, but wouldn't it be good if one area of life (sport) could remain uncorrupted by the influence of the absolute will to win and prosper. Or the need to over reward particpants to the extent that clubs / teams need cash from the media to the extent that events are compromised for supporters

Nice to see Armstrong (the sportsman US presidential candidates most wanted to be seen shaking hands with)  finally getting his come-uppance.

He's made a lot of money by taking drugs, and unfortunately there will always be the temptation for others to attempt to copy him.

Armstrong's US Postal team provided the template for the way most cycling teams operate now. Sky, the most successful proponents, can expect to find themselves under constant surveillance.

I hope that cycling can now become a sport worthy of its fans.

Team Sky now 5 men down. I don't go along with the PR spin about how honourable these former drug cheats are in stepping down. A lot of people are going down over this and so their choice was jump or be pushed.

Apparently, I've just been awarded the tour win from 2003 for my near-epic cycle from home to work in order to place an ebay bid for a rare enamel Leeds United badge.

Which I also won.

I have a 1990's yellow away shirt which I now wear back to front when I ride my bike. I am certain people think I am a Tour section winner.
Grind

I would've won 2004 too, but we had broadband at home by then.

I still have my 91-92 League winners mug. Unfortunately it has no handle as i threw it in the bin when we got relegated in 2004.

Both mug and handle were rescued from the bin by a colleague but have never been 're-United'.

Haven't watched the interview with Oprah, just read summaries.

Seems he confessed to drug usage up until 2005 but reckons he has been clean since then.

No apologies to any of the other people whose reputations he has damaged or careers he has destroyed over the years.

No grilling from Oprah on the intimidation tactics used on potential whistleblowers.

The money given to UCI was an unsolicited donation and most definitely not a bribe to turn a blind eye on what was going on in US Postal.

It was OK really as everyone else was doing it.

No apology for lying under oath on previous occasions

No explanation as to why he chose to confess on prime time telly rather than a formal USADA or WADA investigation

Suspect that he is looking for a way back into cycling in a team management or sponsorship role.

And footballers are vilified for just falling over.

Does he or she shag dogs, either professionally or as an amateur?
Grind

You would hope that there aren't that many openings available for professional dog shaggers.

Although there are, obviously.

As well as being a "collector" of glasses.

And not just Yorkshire ones.

Thought that would test you. It did indeed belong to the worlds biggest rascal. 1992 up Holme Moss a very young LA was making his name with the Motorolla team. Shaun Kelly absolutely flew up t'Moss first followed by the peleton incuding Lance. " Go On Lance" someone shouted and he threw his bottle at him. I pounced, it's dog eat dog in the bottle collecting game at big races. Also in the same team was one Shaun Yates. hmmm there is a trend developing here.
I don't use it now, your right, it is too mucky
fartcatcher

He's a shifty looking bastard
fartcatcher

Disappointing.

Still a few skeletons in Spanish closets i suspect
