Anyone remember the game we wore this?

I think this armband was worn in one of our home games, possibly 2005 or 2006?

Grind

Should've put it in the quiz section.

What is it?

It's a black patch that says 15th April 1989. It also has a picture of a flame on it.
Frazier Cranium

I missed the sentence above the photo saying it's an ARMBAND. or 'patch' as some fuckwits probably call it

Was it worn at Wembley by any chance?
Frazier Cranium

No it wasn't, answered my own question.

In a benefit game?
Grind

I think it was a league game - someone has suggested it might have been Reading, but I can't find any images to back this up.

At a guess, I would've thought it might have been near the anniversary, or some sort of court ruling?

Someone else thinks we were wearing the pinstripe Whyte & MacKay kit.
Frazier Cranium

Hillsborough, 25th year anniversary?  Wouldn't be the 26th would it, or am I being REALLY dim?
Grind

Must admit my first thought was 25th anniversary, but that doesn't tie in with the supposed Whyte & MacKay sponsorship, obviously.
Grind

It also seems to me that these armband things are a relatively recent development, but what do I know?
Frazier Cranium

They're crap, I do know that

I won't disagree with you on that.

Not really dim, just astoundingly shit at maths. If it was the 25th anniversary of something that happened in 1989 it would've been worn last year not circa 2005-6. That's all for today class. Next lesson we will be looking at long division. ENDEACOTT, WALK DONT RUN LAD!

Hmmmm.

I don't think any of you feckers actually go to Leeds games and LD's reports are an elaborate (but really quite convincing) hoax.
Frazier Cranium

Dock - sorry, you're right, terrible arithmetic on my part.

Grind - sorry for not remembering when the armbands were worn.

Dock - thanks for spelling my surname right.

Grind - Get fucked.

Dock - you an' all

I think I should call on one of the more 'applied' pupils in the class. Mr Grind, for those, like Mr Endeadott, who have failed to grasp this sum please tell us what 1989 + 25 equals..........

FFS, DISMISSED!

To be fair though, I really couldn't give a shit

Don't worry, we'll beat one out of you.

* To be honest, I'm not sure I really give one either, but since it's on its way (along with a rather nice mid-nineties Martyn GK shirt and the dodgy "camouflage" outfit worn by our current Italian shot-stopper in a relatively recent home loss), I figured I should make some vague attempt to find out when it is from.

On 15 & 16 April 2006, Premiership teams wore the armband (17 years anniversary since Hillsborough).  I guess that some of the Championship clubs also joined in the event - and Leeds would have been one of them.

(Wasn't this the armband that Rooney was pictured removing from his arm and it being portrayed as disrespect to Liverpool fans, even though many players found them uncomfortable to wear?)

Dalek is the bestest!
Grind

Bingo!

Grind

Don't suppose any of you have got the programme above and can see if there's a better image from the previous home game with Reading inside?

Pretty please?
Late Doors

Stopped buying programmes when they put them up to a pound, soz
