Another Leeds takeover

Look North reporting that an attempt has/is being made to take over the club by a consortium involving Lucas Radebe. Described by the GFH as risible today.
Frazier Cranium

i thought Peter Risible left years ago.
fartcatcher

he's inrisible now.
Dalek

Adam Pearson is also involved.
smiling badger

Well if its anything like the last take over we all may as well wait and see how things are going come Jan/Feb.
smiling badger

GFH now saying that no approach has been made..

More details of what sems to be a buy in not a buy out.

I guess that at this point, until I see the press conference I just choose to consign all of this to background noise.

Twould be nice if those involved just adopted the policy of saying absolutely nothing until there is actually something to announce.

Really, so if Bates is trying to buy the club for example, better not to know till he has? Sorry I have never bought this "keep it secret" approach and I never will, if you are of good intent you would he happy to say "I would like to purchase Leeds United" and happy to take scrutiny of why....

Just my viewpoint (influenced by 30+ years of my club being owned by shysters).

Yes, Really, Michael

What are we really supposed to do if Bates or the likes was to want to buy our club even if we knew about it or not?
Stand outside ER with our 'Bates Out' signs?
Yeah, that'll work.
We are powerless.

Don't ever assume. Take the letters badge, it makes an ASS out of U and ME. I've been around racing for as long as as I was into football. Some of my family have been into it in a fan sense and professionally for a long time. The only thing watching LU and the certain number of dickheads who follow them have driven me to is not going to watch them at all.

Peace Brother!

Point of order. I can let go but when you and your meathead mates start taking the piss out of an opinion I posted then surely I'm allowed to respond. No?

Merry fucking Christmas to the lot of yer and well done on yesterdays win.
fartcatcher

It takes a while for news to filter through to the land that time forgot, but my man on the terraces sent me a telegram yesterday indicating that Bahrain based investment bank GFH were skint and were about to sell out to the Cosa Nostra.

This guy sounds like he could be great entertainment value. Possibly better than our team.

Quote:
Cellino is one of the greatest ‘characters’ in Italian football, even though he lives in Miami.

Last year he spent several days in prison in Sardinia, accused of fraud for the construction of the Is Arenas stadium, which was later torn down for not having the requisite permits.

He is prone to outlandish public statements and can often be seen in the stands chain-smoking while watching Cagliari play.

He also inaugurated the opening of the Is Arenas by playing guitar and singing, as he is part of a band in his spare time.
Frazier Cranium

He's clearly a c0unt and that is all I'm saying on the matter.
Heyho

Leeds fans could kill two birds with one stone here by wearing black armbands.

For Leeds fans it would symbolise the death of the club (yet again). But the new Italian owners would see it as our support for fascism and Mussolini.

All we need now is Di Canio as manager.

Brian has been sacked, just been confirmed.

14 years of farce and asset stripping I'm surprised we are even in the Championship - maybe not for much longer

Beggars belief that a convicted fraudster can pass the FL fit and proper test. That is unless they've not passed him yet and we've just sacked a manager somewhat previous. Wouldn't surprise me with this debacle of a club

Eddie Gray reckons we'll be all right without him. That's a relief.

Yeah, we have a squad of 'goal getters' at the moment.
Didnt think Eddie had to speak shit still now that Bates doesnt pay him to do so.
Perhaps he's afraid he may end up with a Horse head in his bed..

We Are Leeds..
Late Doors

If he/they isnt/Aren't the official owner yet how can they have the power to sack  the manager? The existing Board are claiming they knew nowt about it. Not the most pressing of questions i admit but one that troubles me. Where does it leave us then if he doesn't become the owner? what if he doent pass the Fit n Proper test? (yeah like that is gonna happen). Sacking BMcD in the way it has happened suggests he may not have the decencey and integrity required but since when has that counted as Fit n Proper?
fartcatcher

Is there anyone in the world who would fail the Football League's fit and proper test?

President Assad?

Dave Lee Travis?

Fred Goodwin?

It's a possibility.
Grind

I like the new manager.
fartcatcher

Presumably someone explained to Sr. Cellino that he can't sack someone who doesn't work for him.
Once the FL's fit and proper person box ticking exercise has been completed then I expect BMc and most of his backroom staff will be on their way.

He's sacked 20 managers in six years at Cagliari.

Rumours abound of continuing massive debt. Are we still paying to have the barnacles scraped off Ken's yacht and Suzannah's botox every month?
smiling badger

Read else where that we are up to our eyeballs in debt. Surely Cellino and his lot wouldnt be such a bad thing? Apart from sacking our Brian i am quite up for him taking over. The local buisness man with shed loads of cash and LUFC as the love of his life are never going to happen.
Heard that Bates and some cronnies were sniffing about also.

I think the Ken link is a red herring really, as for Cellino, if he passes the test then good luck to him. I believe that he likes to invest well in the club and will want us to be in the Premiership, I'd heard that one of the reasons he'd not stayed in Italy was to do with the bureaucracy on Cagliari being so difficult to work with.

Here we go again. Presumably a negotiating ploy to get Sport Capital's bid accepted.

Could be, who knows?  Not me that's for sure.  It was commenced last week though was the petition, by Flowers who I heard is royally pissed off with Haigh/GFH.

But oddly, they might be together again, with Together Leeds, opposinng Cellino's bid.  Blah di Blah di Blah di Blah.

Oh and Cellino has lent us £1.5m to pay the wages, so we owe him money now if he fails in his bid.
bearing

I'm fucked if I know what's good for the club now.

A wedged Italian that sounds a bit dodgy and is in a similar vein to Vincent Tan by some accounts but then seems happy to spend some cash, or a group of Northern businessmen without a pot to piss in by other accounts.

Lots of accounts and no solid facts, wouldn't it be nice to have all the facts on a level field?
fartcatcher

Seems to be a lot of fans in favour of his bid because he's got a bit of cash.

They may change their tune when he decides we are going to play in red strip and renames us Leeds Lions.

If we had other potential buyers waiting in the wings to put money into the club and help drive us forward then i would rather that than Cellino.

Farnan, Pearson, Verity and some other fella whose name I've forgotten, have had proof of funds for months now but GFH or Lord Haigh-Haigh has for unknown reason blocked them.  They have the money and they are proven businessmen and have actually worked in football and sports finance before.
Late Doors

Strewth how anyone can make an informed decision or conclusion to what they believe is best for us i do not know. I've given it as much thought as my befuddled head can contain and am still not sure.

We've had ten years of mostly shite but at best mediocrity with some exhilarating moments. All any of the so called owners have done is milk us, sell our best players and given nothing back or at the most very little. I've got to say I'm bit sick of it now. All i can see with the assorted consortiums is more of the same. There's no doubt their intentions are mainly honourable and they seem decent people but c'mon, they aren't the kind of people who own and run top clubs. Yeah they might have assembled funds from various places to buy the75% but then what they gonna do? Even though I'll never stop supporting and have enjoyed the last decade i want the big time back. I want a big Leeds united again. The only way i can see that happening is with Snr Cellino.

Let's be honest now. We thrive on controversy, love been hated and revel in agitation. The bloke is a perfect match. Plus there is a very good chance we might actually see some fantastic football at the club again. In all honesty I could not care less who owns us anymore, those days are long gone, football has long since taken the Shilling and I do not want our cub to be left languishing as some bastion of old values while it shrivels. My only wish is that BMcd can remain I am quite sure he can make us great again given the right backing. Alas, i cannot see that happening and suspect Snr Cellino will already have his own ideas.
Frazier Cranium

I honestly don't love being hated and I don't revel being agitated.

If this Cellino fella treats people like he started last week then I'm thinking he's going to make things very difficult for himself.  And why so sure of 'fantastic football' LD?
Late Doors

Well I'm sure he will have ambitions of Premiership football and then European, I guess I'm kinda making the assumption that fantastic football goes hand in hand with that, at least quality football. From what I have read about Cagliari they play a good game and have over achieved becuae of him, jeez what can we do by over acheiving? gotta be better than the last decade. He seems a genuine football lover if a trifle bonkers but I really do not have a problem with bonkers. I do have a problem with the way  BMcD was treated but that is my only problem, so far
