After Extra Time (Codge's book launch) Fri 10th Aug

Picked up an events leaflet in T'Waterstones and saw this.

Quote from leaflet: "Join us for an evening with local author Robert Endecott who will be launching a new, 'uncut' edition of his classic football book Dirty Leeds"

Hope it goes well Codge! End of dispatch.

Will there be nibbles?
Nyles O Cranium

Dock, you gentleman, I didn't even know the leaflet had been done.  And NO, I did not tell them to write that (but Gawd bless em for doing it)

I will be posting details on here about the launch - it's off to Whitelocks and maybe other pubs afterwards and I would be honoured for there to be a Reg presence there.

Heyho is fecking off on holiday again - he designed the cover of the book.

I had to get away from all the expected fame and hoards of women flocking at my feet.

Only if Codge likes your aftershave.

No probs. I also tweeted it. And I'm now 'following' Codge.

As for Heyho, if he wants me to get the phone numbers of the flocking women for him to view when he gets off his hols I'd be happy to.

Pub you say?
Frazier Cranium

Proper drinking after, yes.  Whitelocks seems the general agreement but plenty more options of course

Any chance of a live link broadcast to me on the Algarve?
Nyles O Cranium

I'll look into it.

No.

I quite like the Angel. They force wheat beer on me in there.

The bastards.
Nyles O Cranium

Can't stand Sam Smiths pubs.  It is still Sam Smiths int it?
Dock

No.

Codge has always had a 'can do' attitude towards things.
Late Doors

Cant stand Sam Smiths' pubs?   why on earth is that Codge?
Frazier Cranium

The beer on offer, and the lager, always hated it and not much seemed to have changed the last time I was in one.  Happy to be put right on this matter of course, the Angel is lovely but Whitelocks seems to be the first choice.

Hope some Reggies will be there anyway, at the do.
Nyles O Cranium

Now then, fishtypes, just to let you know what's happening at this book launch and just to make sure you realise you are invited.  It would make me a proud chap if any of you deem this event worthy of attending and I hope to have a few drinks afterwards, starting and maybe finishing in Whitelocks.

I've been caught out before, expecting certain people to attend a launch but then being disappointed by their no show, BUT I'm very hopeful we will have a rather special guest to host the 'event' as well as a couple or maybe even more ex-Leeds players there.

And just to remind you, 10% of sales proceeds of this book are going to Candlelighters so even if you think you'll be doing me a undeserved favour by buying the book, you will actually be doing a little bit of good for charidy (mate) too

Isn't that pub in York that always gets flooded - Kings Arms - a Sams Smith. great location when the river is down but f'ing aweful beer especially the bottled stuff. Bottle of Corona please - sorry don't have it. Bottle of Holsten Pils then mate - sorry don't have it. What do you have then. Well sir there is this organic lager in bottles. Still got the horse shit in it.
Nyles O Cranium

I think I do now know how they get ships into bottles, but I'm lost as to how horses can get their shit into bottles.

But you're right, and the lager always used to be Ayingerbrau which really hurt my senses

Love The Kings Arms and the lesser known The Lowther a hundred yards along from it. The last time I was in The Kings Arms was when York Races was flooded a few years ago. Met Papa Dock (Wakey not Haiti) at York Station only to be told by some smug bobby that it had been rained off. Plan B, as always, was to go for a pint instead (due to the stupidly late course inspection all the other racegoers did the same). Went in the King Arms and got chatting to a nice Geordie couple. I used to live in Taddy so I have a vast experience of Sams beers, and apart from having a touch of the runs the next day I have no complaint with their lagers and the wheat beer is 10/10.

I believe they re-branded it Alpine Lager a few years ago. In recent months they've dropped the alcohol content of the Alpine Lager- it's now only 2.8% abv.

Used to drink it in The Brown Hare in Harehills,  unfortunately I dont own a stab vest so I don't frequent it anymore. The pils brew was exceptionally strong, must have been around 6%, dont think I managed more than three pints without being very drunk.

Kelner's on holiday mate, so it will be Larry & Paul, so I'm told.  I thought they were two of the Stooges at first but then realised it probably won't be.

Nyles O Cranium

Hi all, just to let you know that the book is available to order directly from me on www.dirtyleeds.net in case anyone wants it but can't get to a real shop (or be arsed to )

It will be on Amazon soon and in other retail outlets as well, Waterstones have it exclusively at the moment but that won't be for long.

Could I ask you Twitter-afficianados for some help now please? I'm wanting to tell the world about the Friday book launch as well as the book being available directly from me now. And I would, as a certain great perm once said, 'love it, LOVE IT', if we could somehow get 'Dirty Leeds Uncut' trending on the worldwide Twitter plane.

Would appreciate any good knowhow, thanks again for reading.

As always, 10% of ANY orders is going to Candlelighters.

Ta for reading this, I'm not too media whorish for you I hope
Forest

Do you follow Waccoe on twitter? Ask them to RT you.
Frazier Cranium

Will do ta, good idea.  Same with Square Ball, someone suggested.
Nyles O Cranium

Terry Yorath & Mike O'Grady are attending, Eddie Gray is still a possibility.

And Radio Leeds might well be broadcasting their 6-7pm show from Waterstones too, which would be blooming acely supportive

Exclusive to Waterstones? Is it it still classed as exclusive when Waterstones is the only bookshop in Leeds? Or is it more that its exclusive to them cos' theres naywhere else to flog the bugger?

I wont be attending Codge but have a good night.

I get that. Good reference LD.

There is a hint of truth about that Dock, but LU Retail will be selling it (I'm hoping) as well as HMV, sothe 'exclusivity' is genuine, for this week any road.

I will not accept your decline invitation unless you have a note from your babby explaining why.

Dear Mr. Codge

Even though my Dad has an interest in the LU team and era of which you write about, and even though he would like to come along, he is as tired as fuck n' that due to me being a baby like. He would probably be dropping off by 8ish (no change there then) so wunt be much company. He will see you next time.

Is a ticket required to attend the event?

Should one dress for dinner or will a lounge suit be acceptable?
Nyles O Cranium

No ticket required (never really sure why there ever is) and wear what you want mate, I promise no one will laugh.

Nyles O Cranium wrote:

Tickets are there to help keep the riff raff out.

As the event is aimed at persons interested in association football, requiring tickets for the event would have severely restricted the numbers attending.

I do trust that you will be suitably attired for the event...

A suitably atttired author, tomorrow

Would you prefer this instead?

I do actually get a 5 o'clock shadow at about 2pm but still, I'll never grow facial hair like that in time for the event

Frazier Cranium

Great night, or so I'm told
Plastic Man

My thanks to Messrs. Endeacott, Law and O'Grady for an entertaining evening.

It is a shame that Terry Yorath was unable to attend.

Eddie was most taken with the presence of Radio Leeds' Katherine Hannah, smaller but even more fragrant than he imagined. He was most disappointed to miss the chance of going over to "chat her up" (the phrase "borderline harassment" would probably better describe how he typically undertakes this activity), but he was too busy shoplifting.

He was doubly disappointed when I made him put them all back.
Nyles O Cranium

A lovely lass, really pleasant to talk with, on and off air.

Thanks for being there Vince, it was good to see you.  Friends & family did me proud, and I am genuinely honoured and indebted to Mike and Bryn for helping make it a great 'gig'.
Nyles O Cranium

If anyone wants to buy 'After Extra Time (Dirty Leeds Uncut)' then it is available from usual outlets and with a few more planning to join in too (LU Shop for instance).

Best way for ME though (and Candlelighters) is to buy directly from www.dirtyleeds.net/contact/ as there's no retailer or middleman getting a % then. And that way means I can sign it, personalise, NOT sign it, whatever you want
Nyles O Cranium

'Dirty Leeds Uncut' is now available on Kindle, at a fantastic price. http://www.amazon.co.uk/After-Ext...dp/B008ZBJ1GA/ref=pd_rhf_se_p_t_3

Kindle eh. What next, I'll tell you what next, bloody Sony Walkmans and Ker Plunk. All this technology. It'll all end in tears. It really will.

For what its worth Codge from a keen Kindle user, thats a very agreeable price. People who wouldnt normally take a chance on a paperback for £8.99 would give DL a shot for £2.99. Probably fans of other clubs as well.
Frazier Cranium

I bloomin hope so mate!

CODGE NAMED IN BATES COLLABORATION SHOCKER!

I have just read on Twatter form Codge that Leeds United Retail have made an order for the revised edition of DL. So in the final analysis I think its fair to say Codge is in business with Ken Bates.

You're a bit slow with the condemnation chaps, I've been on Bates Radio loads of times, LUTV a couple of times and been in the matchday programme a few times too.  And it's not cost me a penny ever.  My Season Ticket is evidence enough for some crackpots over on the other place, but fair dos with that as I do pay for it.

And I know for a fact, Ken Bates doesnt cannot read

But ultimately, it's a fair cop y'honours.
