72 million a year - Ronaldo

Even if a few million out, this is wrong. I knew these wankers earned a few quid but this is wrong on so many levels. Fuck me I am so cross. Cunts.  I'm out

Heyho

Whats this about he has had twins to a surrogate mother?

Clearly gay
Dock

Look, enough about Carp. What about this Ronaldo bloke.
sheeps

Well I'm like this me, football is an industry along with being a sport, and as we are all aware attracts and generates billions of quids.

Ask most kids interested in the game what the significance of CR7 is, most will give you the correct answer. The guy is a brand on a world stage who rakes in even more money for the clubs and brands who court him, if his undoubted skills and image are worth 72 million to those willing to pay him so be it, good luck to the bloke, and I say this despite CR7 turning out for scum, seeming to be a smarmy arrogant twat, and a cheat.

Andy Murray received £2,000,000 for a fortnights work at Wimbers, again I don't particularly like him but that, according to his paymasters is what he was worth. Then we have Tom Cruise on 14m a film, he's worth it because he sells. Golfers (God forbid), on millions for walking about.

These people are not likely to save lives like doctors or scientists (takes off hat) but they all contribute to the great big sporting/entertainment pie and if they generate the cash they deserve a slice.

If anyone needs their bumps feeling it's the organisations and company's that fork out the money, who the fuck is going to turn it down?
carp

System is wrong. Should not be acceptable on any level. Can't stand Ronaldo or Murray but that is not the point.

My thoughts on modern football have been exhausted on here so no need for further posting about it by me. I agree with Sheeps though. I wish anybody all the best who either through good fortune or hard work makes a few quid. Fair play to them. The kind of amounts we are talking about with 'top' sportsmen and women are unspendable anyway. A person only needs so much, no matter how expensive your tastes are. The rest is for the bank.

One thing that the ever-escalating millions in sport does suggest to me is a sure sign that companies that advertise around sports must be selling enough of the crap they peddle to the citizens of the world to keep the gravy train on the tracks. I think the way I look at it is that big corporations have very successfully duped millions of humans into the desire to own the shit they sell. All this stuff that people buy and then throw away after a year so they can 'upgrade' to the next model. Also add to this scenario the fact that many large successful companies employ people in poorer countries and pay them a subsistence living. The irony on the greedy western consumer is largly missed, that the lack of manufacturing jobs in their own countries is down to these big companies shipping out and leaving communities with nothing in order to 'relocate' to the other side of the world to pay children and poorly educated adults fuck all in sweat shops to produce crap to sell back to the West. This all looks good on profit spreadsheets in plush offices. Minimum output for maximum profit. Off tangent to the lucrative football money but Mrs Dock copy edits and project manages publishing work. A lot of what would have been done in the UK re typesetting now gets outsourced to China and India by the big publishing companies because they are cheap. The outcome of having to liaise and rely on people in a distant part of the world means that time differences and a lack of understanding of the nuances of the English language in these countries leads to monumental fuck ups, missed deadlines, decreased quality in the finished product, and stress for all involved. But at the end of the day it's all about those balance sheets and profit through paying less out than you would for a job well done isn't it. Forget quality, lets keep those spereadsheets healthy. Globalisation can go and jump in the fucking canal for all I care. It's immoral and regressive to the greater good of the human race.

Most of these bastards hide their money offshore so pay no tax. That's what bugs me.

He's appearing before a Senate committee regarding possible collusion with the Russians.
Grind

I noticed that he'd checked in here a while back.

He's good, but he's no Grind.

* Which is why everyone wants him back. *

** Is he Leeds' new manager? **

i agree but I don't really care about how much some people "earn" it's how little most people earn that's the biggest issue. Not just in so called first world countries where the gulf is bad enough but worldwide that gap between the super wealthy and poor is insanely disproportionate.  It is becoming more noticeable as technology brings information and the world "shrinks". Far right fascists, freedom crushing  Stalinists and religious extremists are harvesting that resentment for their own power needs and it and can end only one way.

Believers will say that we need the super wealthy in order for the system to work along the lines that Sheeps and Dock have wonderfully put (both are clearly not as green as they are cabbage looking are they ). We need their wealth to trickle down and create mini wealth amongst the plebs. They will say that CR7 Ltd creates jobs and opportunities across the social strata from his agent right along to the people who clean the stadiums. Governments will puncture their tax framework with escape holes. Whole countries will create tax exempt havens for the wealthy in order to keep the super wealthy content and the system working. They will say that without such wealth people will not be motivated to produce and create. There is one problem with all that theory and that problem is that it is total bollocks. Greed is but one element of the human condition and one that is universally reviled in all ancient morality yet it provides the basis for a complete fiscal value system that dictates our lives. Its utter madness and will lead to ultimate catastrophe. There simply has to be some democratic control of it that falls somewhere between  crushing dictatorship  and total unrestrained capitalism. Fucked if I know where the line is though.

I actually feel sorry for these super rich. I am certain they do not enjoy the gift of life despite their wealth.
