6-0

Frazier Cranium

Terrible, worse than last week because this week, for one thing, I have no ale in my system.
sheeps

We'll av em in the second leg.

Big jessie Matt Smith B.A. sent off after 1 minute.

Austin and Z man this weeks rubber ducks according to my man on the terraces.
sheeps

Z man was pitiful on the evidence of the highlights.
Frazier Cranium

He was absolute gash, as Alan Hansen would say.

No usual report, I'm sure anyone who wanted to know how the game went saw it on the telly so a few general points.

Went over on my own in the car. MDM again demonstrating his uncanny knack of picking the right away games to miss. Sheffield is a terrific drinking town with some fantastic pubs but the early kick off and then the trip up to Hillsborough put paid to that so the car was the optimum choice of travel. The drive over from south west Huddersfield to North Sheffield is a doddle, through some stunning landscapes where Pennine hills meet peripheral peak district. Lovely low winter sunshine and Bert Jansch's LA Turnaround made the 5O minutes most pleasurable. What could possibly go wrong?

Well the team selection for a start. Two new lads on opposite wings with a baby and carthorse in the engine room. Hillsborough is a wide pitch and already it looked like we were outnumbered in the middle. The diminutive Ross up front already seemed  a daisy amongst the towering tulips of Wednesday's defence. Maybe BD thought we could take the game to a struggling Wednesday. Maybe he hasn't been watching their recent little revival? Maybe his Ahab fixation with wingers will be his Waterloo if the literary and historical hybrid analogy isn't too clumsy.

The Sheffield intelligentsia society had gathered to our left and were gesticulating with arms open in our general direction. Dunno what's happened to this club in recent years. They never used to have dozens of these clowns. They're like a flat cap and ferret version of Millwall without the comical menace.

So the game and my original observations and fears were spot on. The lad on the left didn't know when to drop short, come inside or sprint forward with or without the ball. Pugh and Pearce didn't help him either with some shocking decision making and distribution. The lad on the right Kebe ? was a tad more effective but was getting bullied by his marker and didn't seem to have the inclination for a scrap. He needed quick balls to his feet and wasn't getting enough of them. When he did get decent balls into the box there was no one on the end of them. An absolutely shocking selection for a front three.

Meanwhile in midfield someone seems to have replaced the lithe classy and energetic Mowatt with a fat little pub player whilst Rudy is average at best in a competent team. When he is required to be the main man his inadequacies are exposed and his game deteriorates into a shambles.

And what the flippers had happened to Zaloukais or whatever his name is. How has he turned into a frigging liability all of a sudden?

If we could have kept it at one nil for half time and made big changes we could have got something out of the game. But no we gifted them another then on came Smith for the second half. He was obviously told to and was intent on exerting some physical presence immediately. This he clearly did but i thought this lad was supposed to be intelligent? Can't fault the sub or the intention but that was plain stupid.

So it was only at three nil and ten men that the home fans felt confident such was their own lack of  expectancy. We had thrown the towel in at the sending off and at four nil the gallows humour set in. I say humour but even the songs and chanting reflected the spirit of the team. I left at five nil on 80 minutes like many others up sombre Leppings Lane then up the A61 to the car. Even the splendour of the sun swept  rolling green Pennine vista of the North couldn't raise the spirit. It was a bad day and the first time I've actually seriously questioned the manager's tactics and choices. Not with the knee jerk rancour of others but he needs to work things out with his team and players before the trickle that has now turned into a stream becomes  a torrent. That, we don't need or want.

Thanks LD.

Can't have been much fun.

At least Grayson's teams used to lose 6-4.

Bring back Michael Brown.

goes off to eat hat

i take that bit back. Not that desperate
Grind

We're definitely one of the form teams of the division at the moment.

We don't have the quality to start with then begin to top this up with players other clubs blatantly don't want.

What a recipe.

Ho hum.

Just watched the 'highlights'. Jesus f*cking Christ.

I never saw defending as bad as that in my days as second choice left back for Radford United reserves when all you had to do to get picked was turn up on time with a pair of boots that fitted and reasonably sober.

Rumours of factions in changing room. Colin's old boys vs Les's new boys. Not good.

Got to be worth giving Green a game. He was a decent player before he joined us whereas most of the rest weren't.

Radford United Reserves! I'm impressed.

Reasonably sober!!! I'm astounded.
Kingmaker of Lilliput

Green is a Colin old boy (and contract up June and he is not getting an extension) and like Brown, Kenny, Ashdown, Peltier, Drury, Warnock, Austin, Norris, Pearce, Tonge, Varney, Morision and Diouf wants kicking straight out the door.
Heyho

I've noticed Austins performances have nose dived over reason weeks.

Do we think all this is over contract negotiations then?

Thanks LD, take my hat off to you for having to put up with such shocking  displays yet again.
Hope that you are'nt loosing that mojo just yet..

Warnock still seems to haunt the club with his poisoned players, hey.
As KOL has said, drop the lot. None are of any use.
Leave it to the kids and let them see what they can do.

His head seems to shrink further into his body each time he plays. I wouldn't be surprised if one day he runs onto the pitch and it has disappeared altogether. Like a tortoise.

Or an elusive shit.
