'Unknown Pleasures' - Peter Hook

Probably been reviewed already here, and reviewed better, but any road, I enjoyed this book completely, it's one of the very few tomes that I wanted to not run out of pages.

'Hooky' writes as if he's your close mate, in a pub with you but not blathering on drunkenly but sober and chatty because it's all a good yarn, whatever he's telling you.

There are some disappointments in the book though, notably his relationships with the other band members (Joy Div and New Order), when I was thinking that maybe he was telling us too much personal info, but overall it's witty, informative and massively entertaining.

I've also just about finished 24 Hour Party People book too, Tony Wilson's recollections.  I would recommend it too but the impressive and intriguing wordsmithery eventually gets tiresome.  Maybe that's because I'm not as well-read as the author, something which he amusingly reminds me on nearly every page.  Good read but nowhere near as good as Hooky's, in my humble

Nice one Rob. I've been tempted to get this but was unsure if it was just a bit of a cash in. I'll defo have a look now. I read that he's estranged from the rest of NO, but as usual with conflicts its best not to judge when your on the outside of a situation innit. I'm sure its six of one and half a dozen of t'other as us Yorkshire folk are fond of saying.....a lot. Might get it on the kindle for my jollys. Cheers bud!

Borrow my copy mate, I still have your Creation dvd don't forget.

Hook does mention the fall out and the stick he first received for gigging Unknown Pleasures... if that is the true version and cause of all the resentment since then he has been badly done to.  More importantly, WHY THE HELL fall out over a classic album which one of the original creators still loves and intends paying it its due respect?

Forgot to mention, he is very good at taking the pee out of himself, it certainly doesn't come across as a bitter tale.

Remember when his band Revenge were the house band for his then girlfriends show Mrs. Merton? I've never really bothered with NO side projects apart from Electronic. I couldn't even tell you the name of one Revenge song.

Same here but Monaco were very good, and that track by The Other Two was lovely, though I think an album of theirs was binned or deleted straight away on release.
