"But this goes to 11"

So proclaimed guitar supremo Nigel Tufnel with his wide-eyed-matter-of-factness when questioned about his amp that had the capacity to go: "One louder".

Outside of gigs and clubs I've never been one for cranking up volume when listening to music but the more I have to live in a world of media saturation, lies, advertising, and the importance people place on social media like Facebook etc I feel the need to listen to great music from the past louder because the louder it is, the more the banality of this current era we are in melts away. For instance I was driving the other day and I had Nevermind the Bollocks turned up so ridiculously loud that cows of the Yorkshire Wolds were looking up from their cud-chewing duties to ponder why John Lydon had chosen grazing land to shout 'Submission' at them.

It's like I need to turn the volume up to remind me that I'm still alive.

Ha ha, one of THE great comedy lines ever. I crank it up only when MrsD goes out of the house. If i cant hear it in every room it isnt loud enough. Have it on mega loud over the headphones in teh gym as well. Otherwise im usually ok with a safe respectable volume

Somethings are just meant to be played loud.

We were in that bar created out of the Red Bus station on Vicar Lane on Sunday. Decent place as it happens, pricey non descript ale mindst but they have a "lounge" area called a project space at the back where lay a humongous spound system. It was kicking out some old school reggae, Tapper Zukie , Sugar Minott things very loud. Awesome

I know. That struck me as well. You wouldn't think that callisthenics would result in such a general look of decrepitude, but LD is the evidence that proves it to be the case. I love that lad!
