Forget about artisan bread topped with quinoa and kale on a bed of hummous, this is proper food.

We've been in the NE for the last week. It is very popular round Middlesbrough. I think it's a chicken fillet in batter covered in melted Parmesan cheese with some ham thrown in somewhere. Defeated the lad anyway.

When I first heard of the Parmo, I imagined it might be something akin to this...



I believe the Parmo has a slightly more elegant culinary origin.

About the same amount of cholesterol.

Parmo's origins are with the Italian community in Middlesbrough. According to my mate Graham.

Spooky. A lad that works for me (and who is half Italian) texted me last night and asked if I wanted a Cotoletta Sandwich bringing in.

Think that's very similar.
