Another great James concert. Never seen a bad one.

Was staying at that great big glass sided Hilton Hotel right next to Castlefields so the location was first class. A few beers around the area (old Hacienda is around there) then a long queue in due to extra security (and the sobering view of three police men with rifles).

It's already been mentioned but Castlefields is a great venue. You are up close and personal nearly everywhere.

The set James did was excellent including a few of my old faves. Booth did get pissed off with a knob head throwing beer at the stage so he stopped the concert and asked the crowd to point who had done it. They duly obliged and security removed the culprit. It then started to piss it down but you know what no one cared.

Only one minor issue when two pissed up lads decided to charge the area we were stood knocking my 5ft 2" wife and several other ladies flying. A little word in their ear explaining that I used to be a prop forward and liked that sort of thing but be a little bit considerate to others seem to work (after a little back chat).

Anyway I digress. James seem to go from strength to strength and are well worth a viewing. Might be my only gig of theirs this year (after 5 last year - I can hear Dock groaning).

A 5 minute walk back to the hotel bar so we could watch the scrapping outside (it was the usual hand bags at 10 paces stuff) and the only shock of the day - 15 for a f'ing medium white wine and gin and tonic.

A great day and night was had by all.

Sounds like a good gig, but quite a few brawly incidents that you didn't need. First off you would think a James crowd would be pretty laid back and secondly, this is in a city where you would think after what has happened there there may be a new found respect for your fellow human beings, and not, as you have mentioned, pissed doylems carrying on spoiling the atmos for everybody. I hope it didn't spoil the gig for your missus. People do my head in. They really do.

I know they are not unique but James are one of those bands that feed off their audience. They like to improvise and will wrap a song around the audiences response.

They always apologise for doing the old faves like Sit Down and openly admit it is for the new following rather than us old die hards. The actually played songs from 10 different albums and always sneak in some less favoured ones.

Sometimes is fastly becoming their 'anthem'. 4:30 song strected out to nearly 10 minutes with the audience participation.

Like I say they are not unique but you go away from a James concert thinking the band actually care rather than just going through the motions.

Yep, never left a James gig felling anything other than ace. Not seen them for a few yesrs now. Will have to amend that. MrsD loves them live as well so we'll pick a sit down gig somewhere. (See what i did there)

They did a lot last year due to a successful album so seem to have slowed down this year.

New album being recorded as we speak (might be wrong but it could be recorded in Sheffield) so I reckon they will pick up touring again either end of this year or early next.
