This a great clip of RL back in 1901 - Hunslet v Leeds

Aside of the obvious i.e. the players wearing knickerbockers and probably hog nail boots it is really interesting to see how the game back then was still very much like Union. It was only 20 years since the two codes had split.

Going off at a tangent somewhat. Watched the Leeds v Wigan final at the weekend. What a feckin' match. More entertainment in 90 minutes than in the whole RU World Cup so far.

And great to see Peacock and Sinfield go out on a high note.

They should both get the freedom of the city and/or free beer forever.

If only our football team were as good. Or even as committed.

That clip is ace, could watch it again and again, cheers. Interesting that one team, presume its Leeds were all arsing around to start but Hunslet were deadly seriouse. Truly shit game though and needed smartening up over the following hundred years

I noticed the arsing about and thought that is something you wouldn't have expected 100 years ago - more a clip from todays premier league.

Same with the crowds, I thought they were al deadly serious back then, stiff upper lip and all that. Apart from the moustaches and flat caps that could have been today.

I wonder if that was the stadium that Hunslet had down the road to what today is Winstons.
