A divisive band maybe but I love them.

Truly looking forward to this one, to the extent I've booked a night off work to go.

Got them in my always good for a listen category. Something i appreciate anywhere i hear it but hardly put them on at home. Dunno why, never seen them live either but i imagine they'd be good. Hope you can tell us about it after.

They are consistently great live. Saw them at The Stone Pony a couple of years ago. They putt the same energy into a gfig in front of an indifferent crowd of 300 or so as they do when they play to thousands. Bobby doesn't have the strongest voice but I like it. Tweeted at the time that I'd just been run over by a rock n roll steamroller. They're playing the UK in Nov, Dec I think they're a great night out and one of the few I'd recommend.

Primal Scream at The Stone Pony????? Fucking Hell Cuts, I think that trumps everything. Genuine rock n' rollers at a legendary venue like The Stone Pony (the SP even gets mentioned in an episode of The Sopranos). I saw them at Brixton Academy when they toured 'Riot City Blues'. Easily in my top five gigs ever. I've always loved em'. I agree about BG's voice, especially the last three three years or so, but they always do interesting albums. Wasn't a massive fan of the last one but even The Scream Team can't always deliver. Maybe I should give it a re-listen.

PS Do you have the 'Live in Japan' album? Total sonic onslaught. Great testament to them live.

There was loads of it on Youtube but it's been pulled.

My favourite Scream gig was in The Limelight in NY around 93 classic Screamadelica era set list in a converted church that was packed to the rafters with drugs which meant I could get a pint easy. Stained glass windows behind the stage and pews along the walls. We'd not been here long and NY was phenomenally exciting.

That said, I'm really looking forward to Irving Plaza, it's a great venue. And Simone makes me feel a bit funny inside.

I intend to get smashed and dance.

Meeting in Pete's Tavern in two hours. Great pub, I'm guessing a lot of you would probably like.

They supported James at Roundhay Park a couple of months ago. Not bad although I got the feeling they played as a support band

The City That Never Sleeps eh? Got in just after 9:30, they'd been on since 9:10. Dedicated Loaded to the NRA, progressive people and Come Together to Bernie. As much as I love that stuff it was Swastika Eyes that was the best of what I saw. Stephen Morris like drumming. All the old ravers were having a blast. Lot of snogging at the back of the hall. They've not got any quieter of late, loud, loud, loud. Can't see Duffy for keyboards but he's up there. They make a good racket. Kill All Hippies was a nice surprise. By the time I'd had a natter with my mate and got the car the shutters were down and Primal Scream were scurrying off towards 14th street. Been to loads of shows there over the years never seen a headliner on so early.

Great review Cuts. I've recently started reading Skagboys by Irvine Welsh and its a fucking belter of a book. I was looking on You Tube for interviews with IW and found this with him and Bobby G. Very interesting. Worth a look kid:

Seems a bit of a trend these days for early finishes therfore early starts especially at weekends. Curfews imposed by nearby residents or club nights at the venue. Suits me actually, i prefer a pre eleven oclock finish anytime.

We have a small music venue in Hudders town, (Shock horror i know, two in fact now) Si n Shan thought they'd show willing last Friday at the small Seeds venue (i couldnt make it). They got there at Nine and the place hadn't even opened yet. Band was due on "sometime after eleven"  a lad told them.

In the words of the Great Bard, "fuck that for a game of soldiers"

Also i have made a mental note of trying to see PS if i can, and also also Petes bar looks ace, yep just my cup of Iced Tea cocktail.
