Thanks to the virtues of Kodi I watched Lion this weekend. Really worth watching. Excellent acting by all. Good story line (based on true life always is). For those who don't know this film a little indian lad gets stuck on a deserted train that travels 1,600 miles and dumps him off. The story shows his initial 'survival' in India and then he is adopted and spend the next couple of decades in Australia (to a loving family).

Then he wants to find his past and spends years finding it.

Like I say a great film brilliantly acted.

And then there is La La Land. Not my choice but Mrs H has been wanting to watch it. What a pile of typical American nostalgic shite. I won't waste the muscles in my fingers typing any more.

But...

Which one will grab all the Oscars. Oooh lets create a nostalgic American film for an American audience and its sure fire for a few awards.

Sudev Patel is very good as the adult lad needing to find his past but I doubt he will get a look in with the International awards but the best chance of anything has to be Sunny Pawar as the 5 year old kid. We shall see.

I'm trying to watch all the Oscar nominated films before the ceremony, still to watch LaLa Land and Lion.

Arrival.  Superb tale about scientists trying to communicate with aliens that have arrived on earth. Everything about this is fantastic.

Manchester By the Sea. Drama about a plumber who is made a guardian of his nephew after his brother died. Kind of story you find on channel 5 on a wet Wednesday afternoon.

Hacksaw Ridge. True life story set in WW2 about a pacifist sent into the battlefield as a medic, the battle scenes are amazing. This could win best film for me, kind of movie that Hollywood loves.

Moonlight. Coming of age drama about a black lad in the ghetto. Not a chance of winning.

Hell or High Water. Sheriff Jeff Bridges on the trail of two bank robbers in rural US, good film but I'm surprised it's up for an Oscar

Arrival - enjoyed it, thought provoking but all in all a bit 'undramatic' - we went to see it and the big screen is still the best viewing option.  Many likened it to Close Encounters but that has just about everything you want in a sci-fi drama, Arrival doesn't quite get there.  IMHO that is, some might call it me being 'shitty'

Hell Or High Water - watched on the telly as it had been & gone before we knew it, that is if it was even shown in cinemas!  Anyway, really enjoyed it but yes, surprised to hear it's up for an Oscar.

Need help with it or have you got a rubbish broadband connection?

It's easy anyway, even I've set it up loads of times.

People always make the mistake that Kodi is the answer to their prayers - access to any film, music, tv series, sport etc etc

It isn't. It is only a front end much the same as Windows is before you install any programs.

It's ace though for those of us with lower standards

We only watch flicks that we wouldn't go see at the cinema and I'll be brazenly blunt about it, I watch any sport I can that Sky transmit but which I can get for free.
