Leb put this question to me in the LCC thread but I thought I'd deal with it generally. Although I'm aware that this section should have a slightly different focus, we'll get some proper threads sorted soon.

Word of mouth is way, way undervalued, tell whoever you think will be interested about the book. Personal recommendations are crucial.

Carp, Foo and Grunts plugging on Leeds boards was most effective, so any other Leeds forums. online places give it a plug.

I put some general blurb at the bottom for you to tinker with.

Email any Leeds interseted people in your contacts to let them know about it - don't have How Leeds Changed The World in subject as I think it gets spam filtered.

Facebook if you haven't already join the group, if you have near bootom of left hand side is a 'share' button, press it and it should send a plug to all your friends.

http://www.facebook.com/board.php?status=256&uid=169978066352488#!/pages/How-Leeds-Changed-The-World/169978066352488

Review it on amazon or include it in a review of any other Leeds stuff on amazon.

Request it from your library.

Think that's about it, any other ideas post below.

Ta.

There wasn't any breath before Joseph invented it though.

I usually call him Joe, but I'd rather be a bit more formal on here.

Soz Fin missed this, erm yes, there is over a page. Although I kept the entry down as he's quite well known and gave a much bigger entry to one of his influences, mates and the best discovery.

Other thing bout Priestley was I was pulling my hair out as I decided (through reading up) that he also discovered the process of photosynthesis but no where (I could find) quite said it and you have to be careful with science stuff. I was looking all over the damn place.  Anyway I'd written something like, 'I reckon.....photosynthesis.....but don't quote me on it' and a couple of months later that Simon Scharmer (SP?) fella came on telly and nailed that photsynthesis bugger to Priestley forehead. I did such a jolly jig.

Sales still seem to be going well, not as good as Xmas obviously but just getting bulk of Xmas cash in. Don't always get full feedback but found out (by chance) that it was the top selling book in Waterstones Leeds Monday before last. Out sold every mother fucking book in the joint....I was the world's most succesful author in that shop, for that day.

Really couldn't work out how it could sell loads more on a Monday then it did on the Saturday.

Well that's a bit disputed, a Swedish fella (Carl Wilhelm Scheele) prob got to it first but Pr published first and is credited with it they both got to it seperately. Then that there 'father of modern chemistry' fella (Antoine-Laurent de Lavoisier) tried to knick it and called it oxygen.

P called a few things dephlogisticated air, luxury air and proved it was essential to stuff like life, combustion and was produced by plant growth.
