Is it just me or do Leeds suddenly seem a much more cynical outfit. At least we seem to have a bit of a plan now, but seing Snod through on the wing with 5 mins to go and Boro stretched, refuse to go forward seems a crime against the beautiful game.

On a seperate note, Keown must be the most clueless co-commentator ever to disgrace our screens. Doesn't read anything right. He knows how to wind up the Leeds fans mind, 'McCormack is the poor man's Wayne Rooney'

Good response from Danny Mills

After only three matches we look like a different team, enjoyed it. A lot.

Was working and not seen the game. I imagine it aint pretty, but a clean sheet and goals.....Too little too late. I have written off the season.

My wish for next year:

We get promoted playing ugly, beautiful, whatever.

Warnock walks as per his contract / statements

Bates sells

New owners buy ER and TA

You may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one......

It was much better than that, committed and organised. Some players who had been written off as shite had their best game of the season O'Dea, Connolly and Brown. Too late for the play offs probably but you never know.

win is a win. Or put in many more words, 10 things we learnt from Warnocks first win....

1. We can score/win/pass.

Yes we can and at times we looked like we did it well. You could say both goals were lucky but even though Middlesbrough made a defensive hash of both of them the play to get into position to score was decent. We could have been 4 up by half-time. We deserved the win and showed the odd bit of quality. A slight restraint needs to be shown, after all its still only 2 goals in 4 games and 1 win in the same number but in terms of getting us away from the 0-0 away scores we seemed to be racking up it is worth appreciating.

2. White can play right midfield.

His best game in that position and one of his better games of the season. Kudos to whoever (Warnock, staff he brought in, staff already at Elland Road etc) who figured that might work. What White really needs is to score a goal, would really cement him in that position, although we suspect Warnock will use Webber a bit in the remaining home games.

3. Middlesbrough were poor, which says something about this division.

Really poor, toothless up front and lack any really penetration. Obviously it is not all doom and gloom at the Riverside, they had (including subs) a whole side worth of young homegrown talent to fall back on but no amount of pretty passing and ball control will compensate for a lackluster attack. To us Jutkiewicz doesnít look the real deal and Williams is soon going to be the new Robbie Savage and not in a good way. The real eye-opener is how they could be fourth, perhaps its the lack of real quality outside the top 3, something that can only encourage the Leeds United believers in Warnock?

4. The defence must be been drilled for the first time in 3 years.

We all knew that something was amiss with Grayson and his teamís understanding of defensive improvement, despite both he and Snodin being defenders in their playing careers but it is only now that we see what the problem was, they simply canít have been drilling them. Warnock is no miracle worker but he has turned around a defence from letting in 1.5 goals a game to letting in 1 goal in 4 games. Same personnel mostly, different outcomes. We have to be careful here, Portsmouth and Hull City are low scorers and Boro were poor but you can only defend against what is sent against you. If Huddersfield Town suddenly start shipping goals against we will understand why!

5. Paul Robinsonís experience will be useful whilst we have him.

Some in the collective doubt the point of having a 33 year old left-back (and certainly doubt the point of a contract for next season) but on that performance he will do a job for us. One or two of his tackles were borderline but his positional play was spot-on.

6. We donít do width anymore.

Or more accurately we donít do width from midfield anymore. Is this a good or bad thing? Well it looked a decent development at the Riverside, although at Elland Road we suspect it will be more difficult to generate crosses without some width.

7. Confidence is key to some players.

Lonergan being a case in point and Becchio also. The goalie has had an up and down season but in the last 4 games he has seemed to grow in confidence. Yes he made a late rickett but he survived it and given how little he had to do today we can forgive him that. Equally Becchio is slowly making his way back to the form of the last 3 seasons and could be the star of the last 10 games. McCormack could do with some luck at the moment but as discussed earlier it looks like OíDea and Lees are different players to the ones who played Barnsley.

8. Clayton is no longer allowed to be a buccaneer.

Again this is good and bad in equal measure. I was pleased Clayton stayed in the side rather than being replaced by Pugh and we know he can do the holding job when required. But it will be a shame to miss his surges into the box and his ability to score late goals. You could see from his long range efforts he still wants to score and hopefully one of those comes off soon.

9. The support allows shines on TV.

Those in the collective who saw the game on TV were impressed by the noise we made, the backing shown, the contribution to the minutes applause and the general feeling of making it sound like a home game. Well done those that went.

10. We know where we stand now.

The division has now split and we have 3 clubs having 2 automatic promotion slots to go for and how we play against West Ham United and Reading could set the tone for which 2 go up. Subject to how Tuesdayís Leicester City v Birmingham City games goes that leaves 8 clubs chasing the 3 remaining play-off spots. For us to get one that is a very tall order but at least we all know that.

And it all adds up to:

Still 10th, still a touch too retro for an acquired taste, still too much to do and still in the mist of the odd couple, but it keeps the season alive (entirely different question whether that is a good or bad thing but in the spirit of positivity we will skip that). Warnock himself set a target of being unbeaten from yesterday to make the play-offs realistic and that perhaps is the one thing we learnt from yesterday that isnít a positive, that it doesnít take much to make some supporters imagination get the better of them. Still as we all agree in the collective, a win is a win.

KoL.....Hudds are shipping goals I think. Without going off checking, I think Grayson has overseen a 3 - 3 and a 2 - 2. Whether that is better or worse than under Lee, I know not.

Saw that and saw Grayson having a pop at his defenders....

Watched most of it on iplayer. A full blooded team effort from start to finish (about 100 odd minutes of it).

We were snapping at them and didn't let them settle or dictate aswell as playing a bit ourselves. A vastly improved team effort.

Makes a pleasant change to see a team playing with some spirit and passion for a change.
Next couple of games coming up will be interesting.

Warnock reminds me of a Gargoyle or something.
That or an Eagle..

I'm delighted we seem to have been envigourated. I hope it is more than "new manager" syndrome. I suspect that, whatever one thinks of Warnock, there iis more about him than that longer term.

Just to keep feet on the ground (to remind myself)....We still have the evil ones running the club......Bates Out!

Only saw the second half. Reluctantly impressed with the improvements Wanker has made.
Never seen Clayton get stuck in like that. They must be putting testosterone in his tea.

It's a pretty crap division this year. We are no worse than the teams in the play off places.

Except that we've only beaten two of the teams above us all season apparently

We have also been no better than some of the teams in the lower half of the division.  But onwards and upwards!
