Leeds Academy Thu 10th Nov, don't know how much yet - I'd guess about £20, tickets on sale Friday, new album next month.

Bugger, that was quick. Maybe he should be playing somewhere a little bigger

I know nothing about Bon Iver but I have just heard 'Holocene' by him on 6music. Total shit with as much depth and originality as a puddle. Maybe I need to give the lad a bit more of a chance than hearing one song, but there wasn't one redeeming feature to the track. It was just dirge. There are too many bands/singers around at the moment doing that haunted harmony business. I'm prepared to be shot down in flames on this, but I don't see what the fuss is about. I really don't.

Lyrics to Calgary (posted by Butts above). Nice melody and that but the words are a little obscure. Any ideas? Or is it one of those "just let it wash over you" kind of deals?

donít you cherish me to sleep
never keep your eyelids clipped
hold me for the pops and clicks
I was only for the fatherís crib

hair, old, long along
your neck onto your shoulder blades
always keep that message taped
cross your breasts you wonít erase
I was only for your very space

hip, under nothing
propped up by your other one, face Ďway from the sun
just have to keep a dialogue
teach our bodies: haunt the cause
I was only trying to spell a loss

joy, itís all founded
pincher with the skin inside
you pinned me with your black sphere eyes
you know that all the ropeís untied
I was only for to die beside

so itís storming on the lake
little waves our bodies break

thereís a fire going out,
but thereís really nothing to the south

swollen orange and light let through
your one piece swimmer stuck to you

sold, iím ever
open ears and open eyes
wake up to your starboard bride
who goes in and then stays inside
oh the demons come, they can subside

I haven't heard any new stuff but 'Emma, forever ago' is a superb album IMHO. Takes more than a few listens to appreciate it though.

I know what you mean, there's a bit of the empero's new clothes about him but have a listen to that concert I posted up above (if it's still there) - it' fantastic.

Ive not heard much of the new album (if it is still new _ ) but Dock, this is going to sound dead patronizing 'n' that but the first album is a real subtle grower. soz. What start off as dull acoustic monotoned †splurges eventually become little pieces of sublime brilliance that get right into you.

By beautiful chance tonight I switched on t'wireless and sweating lunatic Iggy Pop was hosting a show after Steve Lamaq. I love Iggy on 6 and he's continually switched me on to some great music. He introduced a song by (his pronunciation) "Bonny Veer" called 'Skinny Love'. I loved it and thought I'll have to track down aforementioned artist. Went on the 6Music website and saw it was Bon Iver. Now I've always pronounced it as: "Ivor" as in Engine. Have I been wrong for all this time or cant that daft Detroit bastard talk proper n' that?

PS The track after the Bon Iver was called: 'One Man, No City' by a band called Parquet Courts. Never heard of em' but that song has put them on my radar. Fucking excellent!

PPS I love Iggy me!

'twas the legendary and now mythical Grunt who first bought Parquet Couts to these shores

http://regdafishthinktank.myfreeforum.org/ftopic272-0-asc-540.php

I must have mentioned them in my Green Man report 2013 and then at the Brude

Ah Yes

Case for the defence: You're gig review was three years ago. Since then I've posted so much shit on here and had to read so many bletherings of whining LU fans that I may have forgotten your excellent review. My brain is very limited.
