The Birdingbury posse will be out in force tomorrow as you can just about get there after work. Two car loads of us. I am off with Barry, Matt and young Daniel, who hopefully will have tired of the banana costume he wore at the Social Club on Friday.

Not been to St. Andrews for a while. Looking at the stadium plan, away fans are still housed in the lower tier of the Railway (now Gil Merrick. Who?) stand.

The Yamyams occupy the upper tier, and have been known to shower the away fans below them with 'gifts'.
So if you are going, wear a hat, and possibly waterproof clothing.

It will be a tough game.

Expect the usual dodgy reportage.

Watch out for the chips: they're a bit overcooked.

Is anyone else's Yorkshire Radio doing a weird digital beat-box type thing?

Some great rhythms but can't hear a single word.

Unlucky to go in losing at half-time.

My radio went the same then started playing music after the half time break.  Took to following the game on sky sports website and watching the TV Frozen Planet.

Hope normal service resumes for the next game.

That brought some memories. I used to live around the corner from the BRMB radio station. Considering they were a local commercial station, they had one presenter who was pretty good, the legendary Tony Butler.

As you might hear on a Saturday afternoon, "N weer off t' the Biggies... Toe-kneh Butt-lah... can yow hear me... what's the scorah?"

They seemed to have a lot of trouble with Vadge's surname when he came on as substitute.

Better write something now before I forget.

Birmingham is still as delightful as I remember it. Rows of grimy houses, dodgy shops, and tatty looking industrial units
No wonder they're all so bloody miserable.

Arrived one minute after kick off due to navigational/parking difficulties. Don't think I missed anything critical.

We started quite brightly, with their goalie saving well from Clayton and Keogh missing a good chance.
After about 20 minutes I was feeling quite optimistic about at least getting a draw and maybe a win.

Unfortunately the optimism didn't last. After the first quarter, they gradually took over the game.
The goal was a bit fortuitous. A lot of people though the student-botherer was offside when he laid the ball back to Carr. Carr crossed, Babushka flapped at the ball and it landed right in front of Zigic, who managed to shin the ball in before he fell over his own feet.

It took a long time for us to come back from that. Rather than get straight back at them, we ceded control of the midfield and they dominated proceedings until late in the second half.

Becchio and Sam spiced things up and we had a few good chances in the last 15 minutes, at least one of which we should have put in.

Overall I don't think we deserved to win.

Although the stats will probably show we had more possession, most of it was aimless square passes around the centre circle, with Howson doing a passable impersonation of Ray Wilkins.

The whole of the midfield malfunctioned to some extent. Howson struggled to make an impact, Pugh was anonymous, Clayton fell over a lot (get some new studs ffs) and Snods was completely off the ball. Our normally mild-mannered captain went over and chewed his ear after one particularly poor cross.

Snods reminds me of Chris Waddle a bit. Stooping shoulders, head down, sometimes appears not to have the faintest idea what he's doing, but then creates a goal with a moment of magic. Only on this occasion the latter was absent.

Body language wasn't great and he seemed to get more disillusioned and the game went on. It could be i'm being unjustifiably horrible to him and he's still carrying an injury, but if he his, SG should have taken him off.

Birmingham are a competent side with a strong defence. They played a bit of football as well, and at times passed their way quickly and easily through our defence, in contrast with our ponderous build up.

The other worry was Babushka. He was at fault for the goal and his clearances were sloppy. Let's just hope Lonergan gets fit soon.

All in all I didn't think we were that bad. Some thought otherwise.

Highlights of the game were their No 7 having a full on 3-yr old's tantrum at the end, baiting Marlon again, and the fact that you never heard the BCFC fans until they started whistling the ref.

Lowlight was being made to wait for 20 minutes in a tunnel under the stand at the end of the game. Particularly when you've already been standing for two hours. Don't like paying 27.00 to be treated like livestock.

Just managed to get back to the Social Club before closing time.

Sounds like you made it out unscathed, which is good.

Basically us puddling about in midfield was how it sounded on the radio.

Oh well, we have the delights of Cardiff to look forward to.

Cheers Fc, its a horrible place alright, i've been four times, once every decade and that's enough for me. If only Snods had two feet like Waddle. At least you made it back to the Social on time
